I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at the String Of Horses. The home cooked meal I had was superb and served quickly. The flavors were remarkable and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The bar service was also great and added to the overall enjoyable dining experience.

I recently stayed at this hotel and it was truly a luxurious experience. The room was spacious and clean, with beautiful decor that perfectly matched the age of the building. I particularly loved the spa bath, which was a much-needed treat after a long drive. The staff were incredibly friendly, approachable, and attentive to every detail. Sue, who greeted us at reception, was exceptionally helpful and made us feel so welcome throughout our stay.

In terms of value for money, we felt like we hit the jackpot with our family suite at the hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and super comfortable, exceeding our expectations. The location was also great, being nestled in a charming rural setting. The staff at the hotel were friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met.

The restaurant at night had a cozy atmosphere and the food was delicious. The location of the hotel was in a very beautiful area, making it a great place to stay. The bar and restaurant provided a comfortable space to relax after a long day of work.

There were some issues with the bathroom, which was cold and lacked heating.

Recently stayed at this historic property for a weekend getaway. The central location made it easy to explore Gretna Green and the picturesque Lakes. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay, with their friendly and helpful service. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the Cumbrian breakfast and eggs benedict. Clean and modern rooms with both a bath and shower. A great selection of Ales and Wines available. Highly recommended for a return visit.

My family and I recently stayed at the charming inn for a funeral. The 17th-century building exuded character, and the cozy lounge with coal fires made us feel right at home. The dining experience was exceptional, with excellent food choices and polite service. Our spacious double room had all the amenities we needed, including tea and coffee. the warm atmosphere and friendly staff made our stay truly enjoyable.
