The Rise restaurant serves fantastic food and there are many other restaurants nearby. The hotel is just outside the main city centre, which is accessed over a bridge about 500 yards away. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are well appointed. Staff offer exceptional service and breakfast is excellent.

Noise from a nearby building site can be disruptive in some rooms.

We stayed at the hotel for a birthday treat and it truly felt fit for royalty. From the moment we arrived, the staff were polite, helpful, and genuine. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas, adding to the magical atmosphere. Our room was spacious, clean, and had all the necessary amenities. The spa area was a nice size and well maintained. The little touches throughout our stay made it truly special. I would highly recommend The Grand to anyone visiting York.

Our Executive Suite at Grand was incredible, with a really large bathroom. The breakfast was delicious and the pool was extremely nice for swimming. We had a great stay and felt welcomed by the staff.

The complementary bottle of champagne and chocolates were a nice touch to start the new year. the hotel's location near various shops and restaurants made it convenient to go out and explore. the room was spacious and had a comfortable bed.

The hotel's staff lacked communication skills and failed to explain the parking clearly. We were charged an unexpected fee for leaving our car in the "guests" parking area.

The location is superb, with major sights and attractions within easy access.

The restaurant at this hotel was a bit of a letdown for us. Although the food was excellent, the service was inadequate and not up to 5-star standards.
