I recently stayed at a charming castle/hotel just outside of York and had a wonderful experience. Despite being busy due to an event, the staff at Kings Head remained friendly and accommodating. The price for our stay was very reasonable and the location was perfect for accessing the town. The breakfast bar and main bar were beautifully decorated with a great atmosphere. Dinner at the hotel was absolutely amazing, and I can only imagine that the breakfast would have been just as delightful. Additionally, the hotel's location allowed us to take a short drive to Donna Nook and witness the incredible sight of seals giving birth. I highly recommend considering a stay at Kings Head if you're visiting York.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the town centre, making it easy to explore the local area and visit nearby restaurants. Guests also have the advantage of being close to Caldwell park, providing a great opportunity for outdoor activities. The beer garden is another highlight, offering a relaxing space to enjoy a drink in a vibrant atmosphere. The rooms are well-appointed and the bathrooms are spacious and clean. Guests can also enjoy a delicious breakfast with a wide variety of dishes to choose from.

Some guests experienced noise from the bar and patio area, which may disturb those looking for a quieter stay.

The value for money at the Kings Head was excellent, with comfortable rooms and top-class service. The location was convenient and the staff were extremely attentive and accommodating.

The breakfast option could be improved by starting earlier on weekends.

the lovely rooms had a wonderful shower, and the bar area was fantastic to relax in. The staff went above and beyond and the food in the restaurant was amazing. Would highly recommend.

Our stay at the Kings Head was absolutely perfect. The breakfast was fantastic, with a delicious full English and a vegan option that my colleague raved about. The main meals, both the fish and chips and the vegan chicken and leek pie, were outstanding. The rooms were spacious and clean, with one of the best bathrooms I've seen in a hotel. The location was central and staff were excellent. The pub on the ground floor was lively and had a comprehensive and cheap jukebox.

The size and shape of our room was a bit small, with no space for a sofa or chairs. Additionally, there was no soap provided in the shower room/toilet.

I had a fantastic stay at a hotel in this city. The location was perfect, as it was centrally located and within walking distance to shops. The hotel facilities were excellent, especially the guest lounge which was great for my virtual meetings. My room was perfect for my needs and the shower was powerful. The breakfast was delicious, with options for both a full English and vegan. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Had a lovely Christmas stay with great service! The staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome. The bed was super comfortable, perfect for a good night's sleep. The location was great, with plenty of interesting shops and attractions nearby. Another advantage was the secure parking, which gave us peace of mind.

There were a couple of downsides to our stay. there were no facilities in the room for getting ready, such as a mirror or dressing table.

As a business traveler, I stayed at The Kings Head for a few nights and had a very pleasant experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The spacious and clean bedroom with opening windows made for a comfortable stay. The appetising and tasty meals added to the overall enjoyment. The outdoor space was attractive and provided ample, secure parking.
