The location of this hotel is perfect- centrally located but away from the bustle of the town centre. We enjoyed sitting in the gorgeously peaceful garden, sipping on cold drinks after a long walk. The room we stayed in was clean, bright, and had a lovely view of the garden. The bathroom was modern and had a fantastic bath. The service provided by the staff was excellent - they were kind, friendly, and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The breakfast was also of a high standard, with options for everyone.

The hotel could benefit from some touch-ups in certain areas, and a bigger TV in the room would be nice.

A Luxurious and Therapeutic Rest

I couldn't have chosen a more comfortable hotel in Hay-on-Wye for a much-needed break. When I arrived, I thought the room I had booked looked a bit on the small side. When I told the lovely hotel employee who had shown me to the room I wasn't totally happy, she immediately offered to upgrade me and showed me to a room inside the hotel's main building. It was just what I needed to unwind in. It was extremely spacious, very quiet with the most comfortable bed and a luxurious en-suite bathroom. The hotel staff couldn’t have been nicer, helpful or more accommodating. From the day of my arrival, I felt totally relaxed and cosseted and each morning looked forward to the well-cooked hearty breakfasts served in the pretty dining room looking out onto the beautiful garden. I was also delighted by how near the hotel was to the center of town, and I felt so rejuvenated after my stay, I can't wait to go again. I'll recommend this hotel.

I recently stayed at a luxurious 4-star hotel on the edge of town, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The location was superb, with a lovely garden where I could relax and unwind. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. The room amenities were impressive, including ironing facilities, heating, and tea and coffee facilities. I also enjoyed the beautiful terrace with comfortable garden furniture, where I could enjoy my morning cup of coffee. The hotel also provided various leisure facilities, including a sun terrace and a TV room, perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring. The Wi-Fi connection was reliable, and the on-site car park provided convenience and peace of mind.

The hotel had two relaxed bars and a more formal dining room, all offering a comprehensive in-room menu. The walled garden was very pretty, with a well-maintained lawn and beautiful borders. The service was exceptional, striking the perfect balance between professional and efficient, while still being friendly and helpful. The hotel's location was ideal for exploring the surrounding area, as it was close to the city center. Additionally, the breakfast provided was very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay.

The staff here are incredibly welcoming, helpful, and friendly. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are warm, well-appointed, and the mattresses are extremely comfortable. The breakfast is absolutely enormous and will keep you full for hours! Plus, the hotel is in a great location, with easy parking and just a short walk from the town center.

The restaurant at the hotel was a bit of a letdown. The service was inconsistent and the staff seemed to be absent or unattentive.

The Swan At Hay is the perfect place to stay for a young couple like us. Its location is fantastic, being very close to everything that Hay on Wye has to offer. The hotel is in a central place but away from the bustle of the town centre, making it peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are spotless and the bathrooms are spacious with lovely big soft towels. The receptionist was very friendly and the staff were happy to accommodate our requests, providing glasses and an ice bucket for our champagne.

The hot water was not working on our first day and it took a while for the issue to be resolved.

The value for money was great, and the room was spacious and well-equipped. The location was perfect, close to the town center, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

The morning meal could have been improved with better-cooked mushrooms and properly mashed avocado on toast.

Every dish was presented beautifully and tasted absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this hotel for a fantastic experience.

Spending Christmas at this recently refurbished hotel was a memorable experience. The newly decorated room was very comfortable and warm, with modern and spotless bathroom facilities. The hot shower was a welcome treat after a long day exploring the picturesque town nearby. The hotel's location was ideal, offering stunning views over the surrounding hills and easy access to local attractions. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful walking paths that were easily accessible from the hotel's grounds, as well as the cozy fireplace in the lounge area.

We would have appreciated more milk and perhaps a small selection of biscuits. we found that some key items were missing, such as bedside lamps and a second bedside table.
