We had the most relaxing and peaceful stay at a riverside ryokan. The spacious Japanese-style room offered breathtaking views of the river and mountains. We loved immersing ourselves in the onsen and even had a bath in the river's hot spring. The free shuttle bus to Kumano Hongū Taisha was a great convenience. I highly recommend this hotel for a tranquil getaway.

The public transport was punctual and efficient, with the bus dropping us right outside the hotel. Our spacious Japanese-style room had a beautiful view of the river. the on-site baths were wonderful, and we enjoyed bathing in the natural hot springs by the river. the hotel provided a shuttle to the Kumano Kodo walking routes, making it easy for us to go hiking. the food was phenomenal, with amazing banquets for dinner and delicious breakfasts. the staff were polite and accommodating. Spent a wonderful Christmas in a hotel overlooking a beautiful river that sprouted hot springs when you dug into it. the traditional room we stayed in was spacious and pleasant, with an amazing balcony view. the hotel served great traditional meals, with amazing dinner and breakfast included. Meals were served in private rooms on the ground floor. We enjoyed going out to the hot springs after dinner, where there were fewer crowds. We also appreciated the accessibility and ample parking available at the hotel.

The prices of minibar drinks were too high, and there was no salt offered for the skin to upgrade the bath effect. the staff at the reception area spoke very little English, which made communication difficult at times.

I recently stayed at Fujiya in Kawayu Onsen for a few days. The location is perfect, close to 熊野taisha and the famous 熊野古道 walking trail. The staff are incredibly friendly and provide excellent customer service. The private onsen is definitely worth the extra money, and the restaurant staff are delightful. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were elegant and delicious. I had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend Fujiya to others.
