We loved staying at Inn Gion the Second! the location in Gion was absolutely fantastic, allowing us to easily explore the historic area of Kyoto on foot. the room was spacious and the bed, the biggest option available, was incredibly comfortable. As first-time visitors to Japan, it was a relief to have a large western-style bed. the staff at the inn were extremely friendly and helpful, always providing us with a warm welcome.

I recently stayed at a hotel in the heart of a bustling area with a lovely atmosphere. This hotel had beautiful Japanese decorations and a comfortable queen-sized bed. The location was ideal as it was close to many famous tourist attractions that I could even cover just by foot. Breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of options to choose from.

All was just fine, couldn't ask for more.

The hotel was extremely difficult to find, with poor signage and directions. the breakfast options were limited and not very satisfying.

As bike riders, we loved that Kyoto Inn Gion The Second is located in the heart of Gion, surrounded by temples and historic Japanese architecture. The hotel's convenient location allowed us to easily explore the area by foot, with most attractions and dining options within a 20-25 minute walking radius. We also appreciated the nearby city bus stops, which provided easy access to Kyoto Station and other parts of the city. Additionally, the warm welcome and helpfulness of the staff made us feel right at home. Our room was small but spotlessly clean, and the included breakfast, with options for both continental and cooked meals, was a great budget-friendly perk. we highly recommend this small hotel for its location, cleanliness, and fantastic customer service.

I loved the traditional Japanese tea-drinking course offered by the hotel, it was a unique experience and a great insight into local culture. The location was perfect for exploring the historic Gion district. The room was comfortable and very clean. I would highly recommend Inn Gion The Second for a great stay in Kyoto.

The location of the hotel is excellent, as it is close to so many attractions around the Gion area. You can easily explore the lovely sights of Gion and it's away from the busy central streets. The room is very clean and comfy, with a good size for Japan standards. The breakfast options are satisfying, with fresh made eggs every morning.

The shower had limited headroom, which might be uncomfortable for taller individuals.

We had a brilliant experience at Inn Gion the Second. the staff went out of their way to ensure we had the best experience in Kyoto. They even left a New Year's Day message in our room and provided free drinks on New Year's Eve. the complimentary culture sessions, including calligraphy, were a great way to immerse ourselves in the local culture. the hotel's location was fantastic, right on the fringe of the beautiful Gion district. Despite being a 10-15 minute walk from the closest station when pulling luggage, the flat terrain made it easy. the room may have been small, but it was the perfect size for us and the bed was incredibly comfortable. the breakfast options were great, with fresh eggs, coffee, and a lovely salad. the friendly staff made us feel welcome throughout our stay, and the delicious green tea provided in the room was a nice touch. we highly recommend Inn Gion the Second for a fantastic stay in Kyoto.

Value for money was impressive, with a spacious and stylish room that surpassed our expectations. The location, although a bit further from the main areas, still allowed us to easily explore the city with the nearby bus station. The staff went above and beyond with their friendliness and helpfulness, even assisting with car rental and finding a specific Sakè shop.

Breakfast option could be improved with larger portions, as it felt a bit small compared to other hotels in Tokyo.
