We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at Ryokan Gion Sano. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a lovely view of the nearby temple. The location in the historic Gion district was perfect for exploring Kyoto. The staff were incredibly friendly and even arranged for a Maiko performance, giving us a taste of local culture. The daily treats of fresh fruit and cakes were a delightful touch. we highly recommend this ryokan for a memorable stay in Kyoto.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Gion Sano. The location was perfect, right next to Yasaka Shrine and Gion with its shops and restaurants. The room exceeded our expectations, spacious and clean with traditional Japanese decor. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and even arranged a private evening with a maiko, which was a truly special experience. Despite the language barrier, they made us feel like part of their family. we highly recommend this ryokan.

During my Christmas stay, I really enjoyed the traditional Japanese evening show that the hotel hosted. the performance by the Maiko girl was truly authentic and gave me a wonderful Japanese experience. Additionally, the hotel's location was a major advantage. It was conveniently situated next to a large shrine and park, providing a taste of traditional Japan. Moreover, being in the Gion district, it was a short walk to downtown Kyoto and the Narita Market shopping area. the hotel was also right on the major bus line, making it easy to explore the city.

One aspect that I didn't particularly like was that the food was not included in the stay. However, since I was always out exploring the city and dining at local restaurants, I didn't really miss having meals at the hotel.

I had a great time staying in the photogenic neighborhood of Gion. The narrow, silent streets and traditional storefronts with hanging lanterns created a nostalgic atmosphere. I enjoyed visiting the nearby Kodai-ji temple and indulging in the recommended Tofu-centered cuisine at Tousuiri Gion. The Ryokan owners were kind and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable, leaving fruit, snacks, and even ramen cups in the room. The Ryokan is furnished in Ryokan style with tatami flooring and futons, providing an authentic experience. The Maiko performance arranged by the Ryokan was a highlight of my trip.

I absolutely loved staying at Ryokan Gion Sano! The location in Gion, near the Yasaka Shrine, was perfect for exploring Kyoto. The traditional wooden houses in the area added to the charm. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the staff and given helpful instructions, including a map of the bus and metro routes. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a cozy futon on tatami mats. I appreciated the thoughtful amenities, like towels, yukatas, and a hair dryer. The complimentary fresh fruits in the fridge each evening were a nice touch. The view from the ryokan was also stunning. I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend Ryokan Gion Sano.

Amazing stay, Beautiful room with all modern amenities. Prime location, only 5 mins from key attractions like Kodaiji temple and Yoroshiku shrine. Also conveniently close to Kiyumizudera via the beautiful Higashiyama streets. the staff was lovely and spoke good English.

The price was a bit on the higher side, but considering the quality, location, and overall stay, it was definitely worth it. No regrets at all.
