Tucked away in a picturesque valley, surrounded by dramatic mountains, this charming ryokan offers a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The historic building exudes authenticity, with its old wooden structure and cobblestone streets leading up to a quaint little shrine at the top of the hill. The indoor and outdoor hot springs provide a peaceful and relaxing experience, while the family running the ryokan ensures exceptional service. From the mouthwatering meals served on beautiful dishes to the helpful shuttle service, the staff goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome.

Spent Xmas at an authentic, old-style ryokan with beautiful gardens and a stunning view of surrounding mountains. Enjoyed soaking in hot springs, which were well-maintained. the private "family bath" was a bonus, and we were able to relax together in peace. the friendly and accommodating staff provided complimentary pick-up and drop-off from the bus stop and went the extra mile with restaurant recommendations. A great base for exploring the pretty, historic village and hikes nearby.

Some aspects of the ryokan were a bit démodé and could use a refresh, such as the old furniture, outdated decor, and creaky floors. It would be nice to have more electrical outlets in the room so that we don't have to unplug the TV to charge our electronic devices.
