The accommodation was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable stay. the shared kitchen was organized and spotless, a rarity in my experience. Having breakfast included was a nice touch, with a good selection of items available. Additionally, the location was convenient, with a spa near the BBQ area on the car park, providing a relaxing space to unwind after a long day or hike.

Our stay was marred by a 24-hour power outage caused by the weather, which was beyond the hostel's control. This meant no hot water, wifi, or lights during that time.

The location of this backpackers is excellent, as it is right in the center of the small town and within walking distance to everything. Guests can easily explore the town and visit the nearby Glacier center. Additionally, the hostel is conveniently located for those who want to hike up to the glacier.

Regarding the negative aspect, some guests mentioned an odd smell throughout the communal areas and in the rooms, which can be unpleasant.

The staff was excellent, especially Caesar. They were hard-working and had a can-do attitude. They moved us to a better room without charging us when we had trouble sleeping due to noisy neighbors. Free breakfast saved us money. The room had a comfortable bed and a good shower. The kitchen and TV area were nice, with free tea and coffee. The staff even made us popcorn while we watched TV. The spa was amazing after a long day. Handy location and super friendly staff.

Lovely staff and comfortable rooms at Montrose Backpackers. The owner was so sweet and added rails to our beds when we mentioned there weren't any. They even had free computers for guests to use. I definitely recommend this hostel.

The location of the hotel was great, with plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. It was also conveniently close to the Franz Josef Glacier, making it easy to access. the rooms were clean and the beds and pillows were very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep.

There were a few negatives that left a bad impression. the staff at the reception were rude and unhelpful, making the check-in process unpleasant.

As bike riders, we appreciated the convenient location of Franz Josef Montrose Backpackers. It was just a short bike ride away from the town center and other amenities. The hostel also offered pick-up and drop-off services for backpacker buses, making it easy for us to explore the area. The staff was very helpful and provided useful tips and even discounts. We also found the private two-person room to be clean and comfortable, with towels provided. The shower and toilet facilities were simple but clean. a great place for bike riders looking for a comfortable stay.

As youngsters, we absolutely loved the friendly atmosphere and cozy private room with all the amenities. Having our own fridge, tea/coffee/hot chocolate making facilities, and a hairdryer made our stay extra comfortable. The shared kitchen was well equipped and the free breakfast was a great touch. Good location with spacious rooms and large showers. Plenty of parking available and the layout of the building reduces noise. The staff provided a helpful upgrade to a room with an ensuite and fridge, and even gave towels for the hot pools. The room and shared kitchen/dining area were excellent, exceeding expectations.
