the hotel, housed in a 16th-century manor house, retains many interesting old features in its 20 rooms. We found our room to be clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated, with a delightful 4-poster bed. the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. the hotel's location is also fantastic, with a short walk to the historical city centre and close proximity to the funicular. We also appreciated the underground car park nearby, which made parking convenient. we cannot speak highly enough of the hotel's restaurant. the menu was tempting, and the food exceeded our expectations. We dined there on two nights and were blown away by the delicious seared tuna and fillet steak. the staff at the restaurant were excellent as well, providing top-notch service. Casa Melo Alvim - By Unlock offers a wonderful experience in Viana do Castelo.

The staff, especially the guy who checked us in and the night shift front desk worker, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we had a pleasant stay. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable, providing a good night's sleep. The shower was also excellent. As any tourist, I loved the hotel's great location next to the train station. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. They even sent our forgotten clothes to our next destination free of charge. The service was excellent and the staff very considerate.

Best weekend stay ever! the hotel had amazing complementary facilities and services. Their breakfast was divine and their pool area was lovely! the hotel was situated in the heart of the city, with the train station, shopping center, and restaurants just a few minutes away on foot.

Worst bathroom lighting ever! It was too dark everywhere, not just in the bathroom, but even in the lifts and hallways.

Had a fantastic stay at Casa Melo Alvim. the hotel, affiliated with By Unlock, is housed in a 16th-century building and feels like a museum with its scattered artifacts. the location is excellent, right next to the train station, and we had a magnificent view of the basilica from our room. the staff, especially the day manager, were very helpful throughout our stay. the breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options including fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, and pastries. the hotel also has a swimming pool and lounge areas, and there is a great burger and craft beer restaurant attached. Highly recommend this place for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We had a fantastic stay at a renovated historic residence, By Unlock. The staff were excellent, going out of their way to make us feel welcome and offering a choice of great rooms. The location was perfect, with underground parking nearby and everything in the old town within easy walking distance. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the overall ambience was very sophisticated. We especially enjoyed the bar and the fact that the owner provided a kettle and tea, which is not usually found in Europe. It was a wonderful experience!

I had the pleasure of interacting with the staff, particularly Joel, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He provided us with excellent recommendations for things to do, places to eat, and sights to see in both the town and the surrounding areas. Thanks to his tip, we discovered two amazing local seafood restaurants that became the highlights of our entire trip through Portugal. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for the attentive and helpful staff from By Unlock.
