The staff were friendly and welcoming, providing excellent service. the hotel offered a traditional bar with real ales, adding to the overall ambiance of the place.

The noise from the surrounding beer garden and live music in the evenings could be disruptive, especially for families trying to sleep.

Our room faced the street, and the noise from the local pubs and street vendors was unbearable at night. the room was small and cramped, and there was no space to store our luggage.

the pub was full of friendly locals and the food was unusually good. there were several other food choices on the same street. Chagford is a great base for exploring Dartmoor, and the location in the central square was perfect. street parking regulations only ran from 9-5pm, so parking was not a problem. the staff were friendly and accommodating, and they got the balance right between being helpful and not pestering. the breakfast in the morning was just right, not too much but really tasty. i also appreciated the side door with a code, which allowed me to come and go without going through the bar each time.

We had a fantastic New Year's stay at a charming hotel in a picturesque village. The room was beautifully designed with a comfy bed and stylish décor. The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide selection of starters and mains that made use of local ingredients. We especially loved the chicken main and the squid and squash soup starters. Additionally, the staff were attentive and provided excellent service throughout our stay.

The noise from the nearby pub's beer garden, which kept us awake until midnight on the Friday night. It would have been helpful if this was mentioned on the hotel's website, as it was particularly disruptive for a family room.

It was also conveniently located near the Fernworthy and Meldon Reservoirs, where we planned to go on some enjoyable walks. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, providing us with a good night's rest. the friendly staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant, and the breakfast offered was delicious and filling.
