I recently stayed at the General Palmer in Durango for a few nights and had a wonderful experience. The rooms exuded old world charm with unique, beautiful furniture. The location was perfect for exploring the area, with the train station, cinema, and restaurants just a short walk away. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful, making me feel welcome and appreciated. The hotel also provided a complimentary breakfast, which was a nice surprise. The lobby and outside seating area were perfect for quiet reading and studying, and the ongoing coffee/tea service was a definite plus.

The hotel's location is very convenient for travelers, being situated next to the historic railroad. Guests can also easily access the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Train Station. the hotel's proximity to the train station means guests have access to a variety of restaurants and shops serving diverse cuisines and souvenirs. the hotel rooms are well-furnished and come with all necessary amenities.

Some guests have reported poor customer service which detracts from the experience.

This place is outstanding! The location is perfect for everything in downtown. The narrow gauge train, which was a half a block away, was excellent. Being right downtown means you can walk everywhere and your car is parked adjacent to the hotel. The service was lovely, with helpful and friendly staff. The room amenities were top-notch, including ironing facilities, heating, air conditioning, and a sitting area. The terrace provided a relaxing spot to unwind and enjoy the view. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff was very responsive to our concerns with our room.

The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the historic area. Our room was quaint and had all the necessary amenities, including comfy bathrobes. The staff, especially Luke, Danica, and Caleb, were incredibly friendly and helpful. They even upgraded our room and offered assistance with our luggage. We truly felt taken care of during our stay.

Although there were a couple of drawbacks, such as the difficulty in getting luggage to the second floor and the minimal breakfast options, these were minor issues compared to the overall positive experience we had at the General Palmer Hotel.

The location was perfect, right next to the Train Station and within easy access to restaurants, night clubs, and the Durango/Silverton Railway. The hotel facilities were clean and well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable stay. We also loved the stained glass skylight in our room with no windows, it was a unique and pleasant surprise.
