The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and had a great view. The breakfast was excellent and had a wide variety. The pools were fantastic, especially the indoor heated one.

We loved everything about our stay. The hotel had splendid views, colorful gardens, spacious and comfortable rooms, excellent service, and a spotless saltwater pool. The breakfast buffet in the Rose Garden was exceptional with fresh fruit and delicious omelettes. The evening buffet was also great with high-quality food. Hygiene standards were very high, which was reassuring in these times.

We recently stayed at the Cliff Bay hotel and had an unforgettable experience. the staff at Portobay were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our room on the 10th floor had a stunning view of the harbour and Funchal. the breakfast options were outstanding, with a variety of continental and hot food choices. the hotel's classic Madeiran style, with wood panelling, added a touch of elegance. the balcony was a great spot to relax with chairs, a table, and sunloungers. the hotel's cleanliness was impeccable, and the spa provided a truly relaxing atmosphere. it was one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in, perfect for a quiet and comfortable vacation.

I had the most incredible sea view from my room at the Cliff Bay. It was so peaceful, with no noise except for the sound of the waves and birds. The balcony overlooked a beautiful garden and was close to the cliff edge. The location made it easy to explore Funchal, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast at the Rose Garden was delicious, and the hotel even provided a daily news sheet in multiple languages. My airport transfers and excursions were all smoothly arranged by the hotel. I can't wait to return to this amazing hotel. I highly recommend it.

We recently had a romantic escape and enjoyed two complementary glasses of champagne and a box of chocolates on arrival. the location of the hotel was perfect, with stunning views and easy access to the beach. the outside areas were well-maintained, and we enjoyed the sun loungers and umbrellas.

Although the food was of good quality, there wasn't much variety for a week-long stay. the room was also quite small, and the air-conditioning was not powerful enough, making it difficult to sleep comfortably at night.

As women traveling alone, we loved the beautiful location with stunning views. The hotel's facilities and amenities were well-kept and provided a relaxed ambiance. The staff was friendly and thoughtful, even sending a birthday gift. The bed linen was top-notch and the bed itself was incredibly comfortable. This hotel is a luxurious paradise that fulfilled all our exclusive amenities needs. the spa and wellness centre, as well as the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, were top-notch facilities that provided the perfect way to relax during our stay. the beauty treatments and massages at the spa centre were outstanding, and the entertainment programme was lively and varied with live performances every night. the garden area was beautifully maintained and provided a peaceful and calm setting to unwind in.

the breakfast was not exceptional, and we found the variety of cold options offered to be limited.
