The room was spacious and included lockers for our valuables. The bed, however, was quite short, and the old springs made it uncomfortable. Temperature control was centralized, so adjusting the air conditioning wasn’t possible. The noise from the L train outside was noticeable, especially the first night, but eventually became a muffled background sound. The shared bathrooms were adequate, yet could have been cleaner. The common areas were nice, but the furniture showed wear. Amenities were basic, with breakfast offering just bagels and cereal, which was satisfactory but not impressive. Friendly staff enhanced our experience.

The staff was amazing and provided great local recommendations during my stay.

The central location of this hotel made it so easy for me to wander around the city and discover amazing attractions like Millennium Park just a short stroll away while iconic sites like the Chicago Theatre and the Art Institute of Chicago are within a little over a mile making it perfect for weekend explorers like me who love to soak in the urban surroundings and enjoy walking everywhere the hotel itself offered clean rooms and helpful staff but I did notice the shared bathrooms could use a little more regular cleaning.

Location is perfect, right near the train station. The games room was fun with table tennis and billiards. Check-in process took forever. My room felt freezing at night.

The staff, particularly Rhonda, were incredibly helpful, making my first hostel experience enjoyable and memorable. Plus, the free breakfast is a definite bonus!

Decent location with easy transit access. Front desk staff are available around the clock, demonstrating excellent hospitality. The facilities are secure, and events promote community among guests. Breakfast was surprisingly good and convenient for energy-focused explorations. cleanliness needs attention. My initial room setup was lacking; linens were not properly arranged, and cleanliness was inconsistent. Access controls are redundant and sometimes troublesome. The kitchen was chaotic, reflecting guest negligence but needs better oversight. While the environment was welcoming, the noise from nearby trains disrupted sleep. a solid experience with opportunities for improvement in maintenance and guest management. Worth considering for a budget-friendly stay.

it was a mixed bag. Let's start with the good stuff. The location was fantastic! Right in the Loop, with easy access to public transportation, it made exploring the city a breeze. The room had curtains on each bed for privacy, which was a nice touch. The free breakfast was also a pleasant surprise, with hot oatmeal and crispy toast. there were a few issues that dampened my experience. The heating system was a nightmare. One night, I couldn't sleep due to the cold, and even after I asked for help, the staff just provided an extra blanket, which didn't do much. The beds were another letdown; they felt like something out of a prison. My back was in agony every morning, and even my daughter, who's only 14, had trouble sleeping. the bathroom could have been bigger, especially during peak season. I mean, one shower for a whole floor is not ideal. And let's not forget the dryer mishap - setting the time for 45 minutes when 20 would have sufficed. Wasting time and money is never fun. One incident that really soured my stay was when the front desk mistakenly placed a man in my all-female dorm. Thank goodness my friend was around, or I would have had to spend the night elsewhere. All in all, Hi Chicago has its pros and cons. If they could improve the beds and heating system, it could be a much more comfortable stay. But for now, I might explore other options for my next trip to Chicago.
