I loved how this beautiful historical hotel was literally a few steps from the Alamo and the vibrant River Walk, making it super convenient to explore all the main tourist attractions, like the Briscoe Western Art Museum and the Tower of the Americas, which are all within a comfortable 20-minute walk away, plus I enjoyed a delicious meal at the nearby Colonial Room Restaurant that’s just a quick stroll from my room; the staff was friendly and helpful, but my only wish is that the valet parking fees were a bit more reasonable.

Temperature control was an issue—AC didn’t work properly. The noise was disruptive, especially at night. The bed felt small, and the pillows were too thick. Room service was quick and meals were tasty. Housekeeping missed some details, leaving a glass of wine untouched during our stay. The overall vibe mixed modern comfort with old-world aesthetics, but they had room for improvement.

Fantastic location right by the Alamo and super close to the River Walk. The historic vibe is awesome. Rooms are super clean and cozy, with free toiletries, a flat-screen TV, and a coffee machine. A gorgeous historic hotel. The Victorian lobby captivates. Rooms are clean but dated. My bed was a tight fit at 6'4, and I received a Queen instead of a King. Walls are thin; I heard my neighbors all night. The shower? Hot and cold bursts made for a challenging experience. Service was polite, though the front desk initially seemed dismissive. Expired vouchers for kids made dining tricky, and the $42 parking feels excessive. Still, you're steps from the Alamo and the vibrant riverwalk. A beautiful setting, but improvements in room clarity and amenities would elevate the experience immensely.

The Menger hotel was a mixed experience for us. Our room was comfortable and had all the basic amenities we needed: a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, and free toiletries. the ironing facilities were lacking - we had to call and request an iron and ironing board, which took a while to arrive. The sitting area in our room was cozy, but we were disappointed that there weren't any tea and coffee facilities. It would have been nice to have a warm cup of coffee in the morning without having to leave the room. I appreciated that there was room service available, but we found the selection a bit limited and the prices on the higher side. Valet parking was convenient, but we had a bit of a mix-up at check-out with the valet staff claiming we used the service when we hadn't. It was quickly resolved, but it added a bit of stress to our departure. the hotel's location close to the interstate and Riverwalk was great, and the pool area was lovely, despite some noisy kids. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially when we asked to move rooms due to noise from the room above us.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, with a view of the Alamo from my room and close proximity to the Riverwalk and Rivercenter Mall. the historic charm of the property adds to the overall experience. Improvements could be made in terms of the front desk staff's friendliness and responsiveness, as well as the overwhelming lobby scent during the holidays.
